MWEE: Biological- Standard Insect Net
Get your collection going with an insect net! Catching and identifying butterflies and other bugs is a fun way to introduce kids to biology. Remember when you first learned that a caterpillar turned into a butterfly? Or how much an ant can carry compared to its size? This astounding world around us is free to explore and appreciate!
This insect net is a professional-quality bug catching tool designed especially for kids and beginning collectors! The fine mesh is suitable for catching anything from a small insect to a delicate butterfly, so your net won't harm the wings or other parts.
Use this insect catching tool both to catch through the air and to capture on the ground! It features a generous 12"-diameter, 24"-deep polyester mesh bag with reinforced muslin at the top. The net attaches around a sturdy steel ring made to hold up to heavy use. It also has an 18" solid hardwood handle which is long enough to catch bugs, yet short enough to pack and carry easily!
The handle on this insect net can be removed and reattached for storage and compact packing on your expeditions. It is THE essential tool for successful collecting, whether you catch and release or keep in a collection.
There are four components of the MWEE Stream Study Kit: chemical, biological, climate/weather and soils. Each part has various equipment and testing devices designed to complement your classroom lessons. It would be wise to borrow related equipment and gather as much data as possible per site visit. For example, borrowing the chemical and biological components together would allow for an enhanced experience at a water-based site.
