What is StarLab? 


The Classic StarLab system is designed to bring astronomy to life.  The system is composed of a dome made of vinyl with a projector in which displays images on the inside of the dome walls. The images produced through the projector are provided through various cylinders. 

This experience brings learning to life and gives the students an intergalactic experience that will keep them engaged. The system provides teachers with tools to encourage confidence and is an awesome way of learning. 

Our library has eleven specialty cylinders to be used with Star Lab: 
  • Inuit Star Lore (American Eskimo)
  • Bird Migration
  • Celestial Coordinates
  • Weather, Galactic
  • Lewis & Clark, Moon
  • Chinese Seasons
  • Chinese Legends
  • Egyptian Mythology
  • Civil War Sky

If you wish to borrow any of these supplementary cylinders in addition to the regular Star Lab cylinders, please email Katelyn Gruber with those requests.

Please Note: Due to its age, the Star Lab system is experiencing diminishing performance and may soon become non-functional. While it currently works, we  cannot predict, nor guarantee its availability or functionality for future reservations.
