Storytime STEM Pack: My Papi has a Motorcycle
STEM Concept: Natural Resources
Humans use resources for everything they do.
This Storytime STEM-pack focuses on Natural Resources. Children match natural resources with electricity generation, such as the sun and a solar panel. They chose a good location for a solar panel on five location cards and then think about how people use electricity in different community places. Children use mathematical practices to analyze electricity use of common appliances in the home and think about how to conserve electricity. This Storytime STEM-pack features Hispanic culture, with Hispanic characters in the storyline, and a focus on different cultural norms, food, language, relationships, and community norms that are linked to these cultures.

The entire activity takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. This STEM-Pack is suitable for grades PreK-2.

NOTE: Storytime STEM-packs users will need to submit a list of any kit consumables that were used while in your classroom so they can be replenished for the next reservation.
Email STEMLibrary@caiu.org with the name of your kit, type(s) and amounts of materials consumed during the time you borrowed the kits.
