Welcome to Primary Spelling by Pattern - spelling instruction that moves beyond weekly lists and rote memorization to explicit and systematic teaching of the fundamental patterns in written words.  

Developed by Ellen Javernick, whose elementary school students racketed to the top with spelling achievement that far exceeded district norms, and Louisa Moats, well-known educator, author, and reading and spelling researcher.  Together they've created an exciting new approach to teaching spelling to first and second grade students in the regular classroom.

Students discover spelling patterns that use games, songs, and rhymes to keep the class interested and engaged in each activity.  Cute characters keep the lessons targeted and entertaining.
